Diversified Trust Promotes Senior Professionals


Diversified Trust, a comprehensive wealth management firm with more than $3.5 billion in client assets and offices in Atlanta, Memphis, Nashville and Greensboro, has promoted four Senior Vice Presidents to Principal within the firm:

• Franklin F. Benton of Nashville, TN;
• Norinne A. Hurst, CFP® of Atlanta, GA;
• James G. Ramsey of Nashville, TN; and
• Elizabeth R. Snyder of Atlanta, GA.

Diversified Trust is employee owned and based in four southeastern markets. Its first office in Memphis, TN opened in 1994. It expanded to Nashville, TN in 1998 and Atlanta, GA in 2002. The fourth office in Greensboro, NC opened in 2010.

Franklin F. Benton joined the Nashville office of Diversified Trust in 2008 after 26 years of experience as a Trust Advisor, Estate Planner, and Certified Trust and Financial Advisor. Throughout his career, Benton has worked with high-net worth individuals and families and has managed private trust groups for SunTrust Bank in Nashville, National City Bank in Indianapolis and Old Kent Bank in Kalamazoo. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Indiana and is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Nashville.

Benton received a Bachelor of Arts in Organ and a Master of Music in Musicology from Indiana University and a J.D. from Wake Forest University. He also completed post-graduate studies in music and law at University of Durham, England.

Norinne A. Hurst, CFP® started in Diversified Trust’s Atlanta office in 2010. Prior to joining Diversified Trust, Hurst was a First Vice President with SunTrust Bank Atlanta, serving clients as a Regional Trust Advisor, Wealth Strategist and Private Client Advisor in the bank's Private Wealth Management Division. She served in similar roles with Atlantic Trust Private Wealth Management and Raymond James & Associates and as a Development Director at the Girls’ Preparatory School. In her sixteen years of experience advising high net worth families Hurst, has served as Co-Chair of Atlanta Women in Finance, was selected to join the inaugural class of the Philanthropic Advisors Leadership Institute of Atlanta, and is a member of the Atlanta Estate Planning Council.

A Certified Financial Planner, and Certified Trust and Financial Advisor, Hurst earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Psychology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and is a graduate of the American Bankers Association National Trust School.

James G. Ramsey joined Diversified Trust in Nashville in 2010 after spending 10 years with UBS Financial Services Inc. At UBS, he was the senior risk officer responsible for operational risk control activities in UBS’s U.S. branch offices organization. Ramsey also served as regional counsel for UBS’s Southeast Region. Prior to UBS, he was an associate general counsel with J.C. Bradford & Co., a securities broker-dealer and investment advisory firm headquartered in Nashville. His professional experience also includes 16 years in private legal practice.

Ramsey earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Rhodes College. In addition, he received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law. He is a Vice Chancellor for the Episcopal Diocese of Tennessee.

Elizabeth R. Snyder joined Diversified Trust’s Atlanta office in 2009. Previously, Snyder was the National Director of Philanthropy and a senior member of the wealth advisory practice for GenSpring Family Offices. She has also served as a Private Client Advisor for Wilmington Trust and was a Trust Officer in the Endowment & Foundation Division of SunTrust Bank.

Snyder earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory University and a Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University. She was honored by the Southeastern Council of Foundations as a 2001 Hull Leadership Fellow and has served as President for the Georgia Planned Giving Council and was selected to join the Philanthropic Advisors Leadership Institute of Atlanta. She is a national speaker and author on family office management and philanthropy including presentations for Family Office Exchange (FOX), the Institute for Private Investors (IPI), the Private Wealth Management Summit and Private Wealth Magazine.

The promotions to Principal were approved by the Diversified Trust Board and are effective immediately.
